Ackerman Plays a Round of Golf for a Good Cause

ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI)-The Ackerman Community came together Saturday morning to play 27 holes of golf to help raise funds for a local scholarship fund.

The Ackerman Country Club hosted the Graham Moss Benefit Scholarship Tournament to raise money in memory of Steven Moss and Phyllis Graham after they tragically died when an 18-wheeler collided with their school bus back in 2011. Over $9,000 in golf packages were donated for the silent auction. David Graham, the son of the late Phyllis Graham says he is grateful for all the support from the community.

“It warms your heart and it lets you know that everybody cares. All the donations and proceeds are all going towards the gold team and the scholarship fund. That’s what it’s really all about, is the kids and having fun and everybody being together,” says David Graham.

They’re hoping to raise enough money to fund five scholarships to Ackerman High School students who are athletes or in special education.
