Junior shortstop Adam Frazier has added another All-American honor in the preseason.

National baseball scouting service Perfect Game has tabbed the Bishop, Ga., product as a second-team selection on its preseason all-America baseball team. He is among nine players from the Southeastern Conference included on the first or second-team honor units compiled by Perfect Game.

Frazier was accorded similar honors in the past month from Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). As a sophomore, he led Mississippi State and ranked third in the SEC with 91 hits and a .371 batting average. A member of the 2012 USA Baseball National Collegiate Team, Frazier was voted the MVP of the SEC Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team of the 2012 NCAA Tallahassee Regional. He paced the SEC with 279 assists, most by a Mississippi State shortstop, and assisted with 51 of MSU’s nation-leading and school-record 71 double plays.

Mississippi State, with 23 lettermen and seven of eight starting position players returning from last year’s 40-24 edition, launches formal team preseason practice January 25 at Dudy Noble Field. State opens its 123rd season of baseball Feb. 15-17 when the 13th-ranked Bulldogs welcome first-time foe Portland to Dudy Noble Field for a four-game weekend series.
