Tupelo Regional Airport Clears Hurdle in Receiving Grant

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Tupelo Regional Airport has cleared another hurdle in receiving a grant.

The Tupelo City Council awarded TRA Executive Director Josh Abramson the $500,000 needed to apply for a grant to make some much needed improvements. The money approved will allow Abramson to apply for a matching competitve grant through the Mississippi Deapartment of Transportation’s Multimodal Investment Program. The money will go to to constrtuct a new taxi-way, which executives feel could lead to economic growth and, potentially, new jobs.

The new tax-way will be able to allow heavier planes, which is a need for TRA tenant Universal Asset Management, who recycles retired aircraft.
