Alcorn Corruption Case Back In Court

(CORINTH, MS) (WCBI) Alcorn County purchase clerk Paul Rhodes and three  others accused of stealing thousands from the county were back in court today.

Rhodes as well as vendors Jimmy Mitchell, Danny Roy Peters and Joseph Mcnair Junior all pled not guilty to the various charges against them.  They are  all accused of playing a role in a scheme where fake or over inflated invoices were given to the county and the money paid was split among them.  In one instance, the county was paying to rent a bulldozer that was later discovered broken down with no engine.    Alcorn County District Two Supervisor Dal Nelms is also charged in the case but his court date was postponed after he claimed he could not afford an attorney.  Judge Jim Pounds denied that claim and ordered Nems to find a lawyer and appear on March 20th for arraignment
