Alcorn Nurse Arrested

ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. — An Alcorn County nurse has turned herself in to face charges she fraudulently obtained a controlled substance from the hospital where she worked, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Stephanie Williams, 29, of Walnut, was placed under arrest Thursday to face the charges being prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office, Division of Medicaid Fraud Control.

At the time the alleged crime was committed, Williams was employed as a licensed practical nurse at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. If convicted, she faces up to five years behind bars. As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The case is being investigated by Joe Sanderson and will be prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Myrick Jackson of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
