TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WCBI Sports) – Back to back, and three of the last four years: that’s the run the Alabama football team is on. The Crimson Tide have been dominant in so many ways under head coach Nick Saban. Senior quarterback AJ McCarron returns this season, and so do a whole host of other potential All-Americans.

Alabama opened its training camp this weekend ranked #1 in the preseason polls. The Crimson Tide will have four two-a-day practices and two scrimmages over the course of the training camp.

Bama’s Fan Day is Sunday starting at 2:30. Players and coaches will sign autographs afterward.

Twelve different Alabama players made one of the 15 major preseason watch lists this summer.

Bama opens the season with Virginia Tech on Aug. 31 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and plays at Texas A&M September 14.

Saban spoke to the media Saturday on campus.

“We’re really happy to get started,” Saban said. “I think there’s only so much offseason, summer conditioning, that players can do and we certainly are happy to welcome our team back. Any preseason poll really doesn’t mean a lot relative to the season.

“We appreciate the recognition and we understand the reason that we have these things, to enhance the entertainment business. But the fact of the matter is every team is doing exactly what we’re doing right now,” Saban said.
