Alleged Auto Burglar and Robber Caught

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-Witnesses say he walked into a Ruby Tuesday, approached a table and then struck a patron in the face before grabbing their wallet. 36 year-old Jerry Payne was arrested shortly after allegedly entering the Ruby Tuesday on Highway 12 in Starkville, striking a patron, grabbing their wallet and fleeing on foot. Payne is charged with Robbery. His bond is set at $75,000 dollars.

And in an unrelated incident. 41 year-old Michael Johnson of Starkville was arrested Tuesday after being accused of Auto Burglary. Officers were dispatched to the Chevron Station at the intersection of Highway 12 and Montgomery Street in Starkville where a victim’s car had been broken into and their CD player and wallet had been stolen. Officers were able to locate Johnson after a description was given and say they found him in possession of the stolen items. He is charged with Auto Burglary and Misdemeanor Shoplifting. His bond is set at $50,000 dollars.
