STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — An appeals court rejects the appeal of a Starkville man sentenced to 35 years for killing one person while driving drunk and seriously injuring two others.

Joshua Buckner, 25, argued being sentenced for three crimes stemming from one accident violated the double jeopardy standards. But the state Court of Appeals said that issue has been addressed both by the Legislature and state and federal courts.

Buckner pleaded guilty to the April 2008 accident on the MSU campus that killed Charlesy Collins and injured David Wilkerson and Joanna Morgan.

He pleaded guilty in January 2009 but appealed after he received his 35-year sentence. He also is serving 15 years for identity theft.
