Appeals Court Upholds Attala County Convictions

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals denied this week a request to overturn the convictions of two men in an Attala County fatal shooting case.

Justin James and Detrius Roberson, both of Durant, are each serving time in state prison for the robbery, manslaughter and aggravated assault.

They are among four men charged in the Nov. 14, 2008 robbery at Hill Brothers Logging Shop on Mississippi Highway 19 in Attala County.

Court documents say James and Roberson went to the business with two other men to rob the people inside.

Jesse Earl Hill was shot during the robbery attempt and died. Two other people inside the business were also wounded.

James was sentenced to 60 years in prison. Roberson was sentenced to 80 years.
