Arrest Made In Verona Murder

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) – A 19-year-old Tupelo man has been charged in the 2012 fatal shooting of a Verona man.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1nU0R17 ) that Nathaniel Whitfield has been charged with capital murder. No bond was set during Whitfield’s initial Lee County Circuit Court appearance Wednesday.

Verona Police Chief Anthony Anderson says Whitfield is charged in the death of 46-year-old Jeya “Jay” Suppiah, owner of the Bailey Apartments in Verona.

Anderson says Suppiah was fatally shot Nov. 30, 2012, in the Bailey Apartments office building.

Anderson declined to discuss any other details of the investigation.
