Arrests Made in Winston Academy Vandalism Case

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Louisville community is still trying to make sense of why two young men broke into Winston Academy and completely destroyed the facility. Authorities are estimating close to $300,000 worth of damage was done.

Sources are telling WCBI News the two men behind bars are from Nanih Waiya and that the damage done was in retaliation to an earlier incident involving a Winston Academy student and a Nanih Waiya High School student.

Winston Academy serves over 500 students from grades K through 12. Sunday parents, teachers and students helped pick up the pieces one piece of glass at a time.

Some of the items stolen have been recovered. Classes will be cancelled Monday for clean up.

The two men responsible are behind bars and are expected to be arraigned on formal charges Monday in a Louisville courtroom.
