LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Two men who caused a disturbance at a Lowndes County home land in jail on stolen weapons charges.

Lowndes County investigators say they responded to a call Sunday night of a group breaking out windows and threatening to kill people at a home on Center Road.

Deputies stopped the suspect vehicle on Lake Lowndes Road and found a 40-caliber handgun reported stolen in Monroe County.

Ben Sims, 27, was charged with possession of a stolen weapon and 29-year-old Kevin Parker was charged with possession of a weapon by a felon.

Meanwhile, a routine traffic stop lands two other men in jail on multiple charges, including having a stolen truck.

A sheriff’s deputy tried to stop Jacob Gordey,26, for speeding on Yorkville Road in East Columbus after catching his Honda Accord at 77 miles per hour. Gordey abandoned the car and then jumped into a 1997 Toyota Tacoma driven by Jeremiah Howard, 22, and they fled.

Deputies stopped the truck on Oswalt Road and charged Gordey with resisting arrest, DUI and other offenses.

Howard was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana, DUI and stealing the pickup truck, which had been reported stolen by his stepfather.
