Autism Center Of N. Mississippi Gets New Toyota

\TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI)- A local organization that provides services to families with autistic children now has a new car to make in home visits, thanks to a Tupelo car dealer.

This afternoon, Carlock Toyota presented a 2014 Prius to The Autism Center of North Mississippi. It’s all part of Toyota’s “100 Cars for Good” Program.

That initiative is a national program that gives 100 cars away to 100 nonprofits over a 50 day period. Winners are selected daily through public voting on social media.

“They actually had to go online through Facebook, Twitter, all your social media feeds that’s how they actually got selected, so the good folks in North Mississippi actually helped these folks get this program,” said Carlock GM Larry Brymer.

“We have four behavior therapists that are actually going in their own vehicles to schools where they were doing teacher training, therapy with children in schools, they’re also taking personal vehicles to go into homes where the families couldn’t afford to send the kids to the center, so now we can use the car to go to do therapy in home,” said Brittany Cuevas of the Autism Center of North Mississippi.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi also donated $20,000 for the center’s scholarship fund. There are currently 59 children on the center’s waiting list.
