Bancorp South in Tupelo Offers Free Tax Return Prep

TUPEOL, Miss. (WCBI) – Thanks to Bancorp South and volunteers, qualified tax payers can now get their 2014 returns prepared for free.
This was the first Saturday area residents could take advantage of the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance or VITA. Anyone with an income of 53-thousand dollars or less qualifies. Trained volunteers were on hand to prepare TAX returns. BancorpSouth Chairman and CEO Dan Rollins says it really saves people money when someone doesn’t have to pay to have their taxes prepared.

“I think it depends on each tax return as to what the actual cost would be. But you know some costs could be as high 3 or 4-hundred dollars for preparation so the ability for folks to come in and have their taxes prepared here by the team that’s been trained and been through the IRS,” says Rollins.

This is the 12th year for THE VITA program, a community service project of BancorpSouth.
