Video: Biennial Mid-South Forestry Equipment Show

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-The latest in technology and machinery used in the Tiber Industry was certainly on display near Starkville Friday (10-5) at The John W. Starr Memorial Forest off Highway 25. The forestry industry continues to be the second largest economic driver in the state. The Biennial Mid-South Forestry Equipment Show, a joint effort between the Mississippi Loggers Association, Mississippi Forestry Association and MSU drew a huge crowd of well over7,500 attendees to view about 70 exhibits.

Tedrick Ratcliff, an associate of Mississippi Forestry said, “Not just individuals that have been in the industry their whole life, but school children from across the region. How as they are educated on one of the greatest resources our state has.”

Cecil Johnson, an associate of Mississippi Loggers said, “You can nearly about run a logging operation without a chain saw you have machines to cut it down, you have machines to delimit, machines to cut it up.”

This years show featured a ceremony naming the show site and pavilion after MSU alumnus and long-time forestry supervisor Charles Burkhardt.
