Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) – Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle kicked off its Relay for Life activities Monday night.

A meal was served to cancer survivors at the Outpatient Pavilion at the hospital for the event.

The Columbus-Lowndes Chapter of the Links, Inc. gave special blankets to the oldest and youngest survivors in the crowd.

The community celebration allowed survivors to talk about their journey with cancer.

“I felt a need to be involved in Relay for Life because I’m a survivor. My uncle Tommy is a survivor, and both my dad and brother have passed away from cancer,” said participant Marnie Gayle.

Relay for Life of Lowndes County will be held at Columbus High this Friday night.
