LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. ( WCBI) — After months of debate the Lowndes County School District has set a bond amount.

The district will ask the voters to approve a $44 million bond.

The bond will include a vocational facility, a campus master plan at Caledonia and a new field house at Caledonia, a new high school for New Hope, and  renovations at the West Lowndes Campus.

If approved the bond would not raise taxes. Board members say they hope this new amount will help voters cast a “yes” vote.

To save tax payers money, the election will be the same day as the special election for Congressman Alan Nunnelee’s seat. That date has not yet been decided.
