STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Brian Holliman’s fate has been sealed. It took an Oktibbeha County jury more than 7 hours to find him guilty of first degree murder, in the death of his wife, 25 year old Laura Godfrey Holliman.

The crime happened in 2008, at the couple’s Caledonia home. The prosecution spent days putting on its case. During the deliberation the jury asked to hear the emergency 911 tape of Holliman’s voice again. In a surprise move, on Thursday (8-15), the defense rested without calling any witnesses.

This is the second time Holliman has been convicted of killing his wife. His first conviction came 4 years ago, but the State Supreme Court overturned that verdict. Holliman will serve life with the possibility for parole. That’s the same sentence he received the first time around.
