BRUCE, Miss. (WCBI) — Another Northeast Mississippi town is turning to the sun for electricity.

Bruce aldermen have approved a proposal from Blue Spectra Solar to install a 90,000 kilowatt solar power system to operate some city facility like its water well or sewage treatment lagoon. Businessman Norman Griffin will install the project at his own expense and get tax credits for 10 years before turning the operation over to the city.

Vardaman already has approved a similar deal and Calhoun city will consider it early next year. If approved by TVA, it could be operating by next summer.
