Budget Approval: One Step Closer to Tri-Co. Deal

STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI)Starkville Board of Aldermen unanimously approve the budget for the Oktibbeha County Economic Development Agency.

The main item includes a $100,00 contribution to a tri-county partnership for economic development.

With Tuesday’s budget approval, plans can move forward.

Members of the Greater Starkville Partnership and the Oktibbeha County Economic Development Agency approved a revised contract to join forces with the Columbus-Lowndes Development LINK earlier this month.

Since then, the Starkville Board of Aldermen and the Oktibbeha County Supervisors have also signed off on the agreement that is similar to the one Clay County and West Point signed with the LINK.

Starkville will put up $50,000 dollars, the county-$100,000, while the two economic development agencies owe a combined $200,000 to seal the deal.

The three year deal is an interim agreement, while officials work to develop a Golden Triangle Development Authority by 2014.
