LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-He was burned in a fire last week. Now, he’s finally home. Palmetto Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Wiley Bruce went home Saturday after being treated at the Medical Center in Jackson for his burns sustained during a fire in the Palmetto Community last Friday. Bruce entered the front door of the old Malone’s Fish and Steakhouse to battle the early morning fire when he was knocked down by a heat wave. A heat wave is similar to a back draft but with no flames. Bruce received first and second degree burns on his calves, head, neck, ears, and one finger. Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says an electrical fire has been ruled out in their investigation. If the fire was started on purpose aggravated assault charges will be applied because of injury to Bruce.
