Caledonia Election Reaction

CALEDONIA, Miss. (WCBI)-Caledonia voted for a new mayor Tuesday night and turnout couldn’t have been any more impressive. Tuesday was a great day to be an incumbent on the Board of Selectmen. If Tuesday night’s numbers hold up, incumbents Bill Darnell, Steve Honnoll, Quinn Parham, and Brenda Willis will once again be on the board of alderman. Mitch Wiggins Jr will take the 5th and last spot. In the Mayoral election, former mayor Bill Lawrence easily defeated Susan Bell and looks forward to creating peace among the board and alderman.

Lawrence said, “Well I’m going to be everyone’s mayor and I’m going to work for everyone and one of the main things I’m going to do is I’m going to bring harmony to the board and mayor. With civilized meetings; having everyone pulling the wagon in the same direction. I’m very excited about it and I’m ready to get to work before I start office.”

Current Mayor George Gerhart did not seek re-election.
