Video: Caledonia Students Perform Skits for History Lesson

[jwplatform eIkGVhjZ]CALEDONIA, Miss. (WCBI) — Historical figures like Davy Crockett and Abraham Lincoln are making a special appearance in North Mississippi.

They visited Caledonia Middle School Friday for its sixth annual Living History Day.

CMS eighth graders performed skits featuring Crockett and Lincoln, as a hands on way of learning about some historical events between 1820 and 1870.

Teachers say the kids get more than just a history lesson when putting on this event each year.

“They learn so much from it, and they teach the other kids from it as well,” said social studies teacher Allison Barnette. “It’s just a great character building experience, and it’s a real world experience to work with each other the way that they’re doing.”

Barnette says the students spent a month collaborating and researching to get ready for their skits.
