STARKVILLE, Miss. (Press Release) — The Starkville Police Department was alerted by Starkville School District Officials of an incident occurring on March 23 at approximately 3 p.m. in the vicinity of the Sand Hill Arms Complex on Sand Road in Starkville.

It was reported that a vehicle overtook a stopped school bus while children were crossing the road and the blinking stop sign was extended. Starkville School District provided police with video footage of the incident clearly viewing the car coming within feet of striking a child.

Investigators for the Starkville Police Department went to the scene for a follow-up investigation, obtaining the vehicle tag number and spoke with witnesses. Soon after, 20-year-old, Brandon Terrel Wordlaw, who reportedly lives in the complex at 135 Sand Road, was arrested for “passing a stopped school bus” and “no driver’s license.”

His bond was set for $971 in Municipal Court.
