CarMax Opens First Store in Tupelo

RICHMOND, Va. (Press Release) — CarMax, Inc., the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, officially opened its first store in Tupelo located at 3147 Tom Watson Drive. The store is more than 8,000-square-feet, occupies more than 5 acres and stocks more than 100 used vehicles.

To celebrate the Tupelo store opening, CarMax is donating $2,500 to The Family Resource Center. This nonprofit was selected by local CarMax associates for the educational support it provides for local children and the positive impact it’s making on families within the community.

The CarMax Foundation also has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of North Mississippi’s Power Hour homework assistance program. In addition, The Foundation awarded a Natural Disaster Grant of $5,000 to the American Red Cross to support their Northeast Mississippi Chapter cleanup efforts from the recent tornado damage. These local contributions also came at the recommendation of Tupelo CarMax associates. The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $20 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003.

“We are excited to open our second store in Mississippi and give back to the Tupelo community,” said Steve Patton, location general manager of the Tupelo CarMax. “At our new store, customers will receive the same great service and unique no-haggle experience that CarMax has been proud to offer since the beginning.”
