ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI) – Choctaw County first responders received a pat on the back and supper Friday night.

The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce hosted its fourth annual First Responders Dinner in Ackerman.

300 people attended.

The Chamber of Commerce recognized those who risk their lives to save others.

First responders brought a guest to enjoy the evening.

For some organizers, the event has a very personal meaning and say there are plenty of people to recognize.

“I have learned this year, first hand, of what it means to have a first responder, because my husband was involved in an accident. And they do a great job for us, and we’re just so proud to be able to do this for them,” said Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce Director Donna McKay.

Door prizes were also given away.
