ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI)-Choctaw County says thank you to first responders.

The Chamber of Commerce hosted a dinner for first responders in their county for their servitude and acts of selflessness. The dinner was open to volunteer firefighters, police officers, sheriff deputies, game wardens and more. The event featured blue grass tunes by Southern Flair Bluegrass Gospel followed by a catfish dinner. Lara Bowman, the Chamber of commerce Director says its important to give back to those who sacrifice so much for their community.

“In a real community like ours, its very important they are the first people there. You know a lot of people want even call 911. They know to call their neighbor who is a volunteer fire department so they are literally the first line of response here in our community,” says Lara Bowman.

Robert Latham, the Director of Mississippi Emergency management Agent was the key note speaker
