PEARL, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says 22 people were injured and 188 buildings damaged or destroyed by the storms on Christmas Day. Sixty-five of the buildings – 57 homes and eight businesses – were destroyed.
A statement Friday says 10 of the injured people were in Pearl River County, where 27 homes and three apartments were destroyed, and another 26 homes and a public building were damaged.
Seven people were injured in Lawrence County, where 11 homes and seven businesses were destroyed, and 22 homes and one business damaged.
Wilkinson and Hinds counties each reported two injuries, with one in Forrest County.
They were among 12 counties reporting damages to the emergency operations center in Pearl.
The others were Amite, George, Green, Jones, Monroe, Perry and Stone.
