Clay County Arrests Two on Drug Charges

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (Press Release) — On November 20, 2014, a search warrant conducted by the Clay County Sheriff Department, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and the West Point Police Department resulted in the arrests of Freddie A. Hampton, 55, of 720 Smith Street, and King Jamarr Lenoir, 26, of 828 Hill Street, both of West Point.

Hampton was charged with possession of 11 bags or 44 grams of synthetic marijuana (spice), a controlled substance. He is also being charged by investigators with the sale of cocaine. Bond has not been set, pending an arraignment in the Clay County Justice Court.

King J. Lenoir was charged with possession of cocaine and currently remains incarcerated with a Mississippi Department of Corrections hold.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that spice continues to be a deadly synthetic drug which has resulted in numerous individuals being hospitalized after using the drug. Narcotic investigators have targeted individuals dealing this drug and more arrests are expected in the near future.
