CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Clay County jail records and arrest warrants will soon be just a few mouse clicks away.

By this Summer, you’ll be able to go online to see who is behind bars and what charges they face.

The project is being launched in 3 phases.

First a basic website will be created.

Then jail records will posted on that site.

And finally warrants will be published from the justice court system.

The County is owed more than 2 million dollars in outstanding fines.

The Sheriff hopes, that by having their names published on-line, people will be more motivated to pay up.

Sheriff Eddie Scott says,  Also the system is going to be able to have a feature that lets us alert the community when something is going on. It can either be done by text messaging to their phone or by e-mail, so for the community, it will be a big plus.”

Start up cost for the website will be about $8,500.
