Video: CAFB Celebrates Black History Month

[bitsontherun q3Cf4vv6]COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The service men and women of the Columbus Air Force Base celebrated Black History Month on Tuesday with a ceremony of singing and dramatic readings.

The Black National Anthem was sang by Tamika Lardell.  Major Alice Turner performed a spoken word piece about the contributions of made by African Americans and Kayla Gilmore danced to Dr. Maya Angelou’s poem “Phenomenal Woman”.

Lunch was served prior to the performances  held at the base’s Columbus Club house.

The theme of the event was “Celebrating our past and shaping our future”
