COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – This year many retailers opened their doors on Thanksgiving hoping to jumpstart the holiday shopping season.

They woke up early, waited in line for hours, and went straight for what they were looking for.

The shoppers this black friday were ready to get their hands dirty, preparing days, weeks and even months in advance.

“We’ve been doing this for probably 25 years, my best friend and I together. We get the sale papers, we sit down, we make lists up, make a route, what all we want to do, says Marilyn Steen.

And as shoppers hurried in, they also quickly hurried out to bargain hunt at the next place, leaving racks and shelves of clothes a shopping mess.

“This morning when we opened they just rushed in like, they stampeded us you know and they got all the small appliances that’s one of the big things they were shopping for all of them went really quick,” says Genora Tate, customer service specialist.

The J.C Penney store leader says their prices are already low so some of the items in the store this Black Friday are a steal for shoppers.

“We’re having out one sale of the year since we moved to out fair and square pricing, our customers expect us to have some great deals for Black Friday…so almost everything in the store is on sale for customers to come purchase this this one day only, says store leader, Victoria Aurigemma.

Many shoppers got out early but even so, not all of them were able to buy everything their list.

Some items were sold out in minutes.

I didn’t get everything i wanted because i wanted more than just two pair of colored jeans, but of course they were sold out here at jcpennys but i got everything else that i wanted, says shopper, Miracle Taylor.

Another shopper, Adrienne Cole, adds, “I got here just in the nick of time, got here about 7, 8 O’clock and it’s going good. I got all my daughters Christmas shopping out of the way as far as clothes is concerned.

Black Friday deals for many stores will end when they close.
