Columbus Council Votes on Two School Board Seats

COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI)A familiar face will stay, and a new face will join. The Columbus City council makes their choices for the school board.

Currie Fisher will keep her spot, after Mayor Robert Smith broke the tie. Fisher has been on the board since March of 2010, and was up for reappointment.

Meanwhile, Steve Jones, a Columbus realtor, will now join the board, also after a similar vote. He replaces Greg Lewis, which expires on March of 2019.

Eight applicants were in the hat for the two vacancies on the board.
