COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus has a new captain leading its police department’s detective division. And it’s a familiar face in Northeast Mississippi.
The City Council Tuesday night approved Chief Tony Carleton’s recommendation to hire former Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Brent Swan for the position. He starts work Wednesday.
Swan is a long-time investigator and administrator who has been at Mississippi Delta Community College law enforcement training academy for the last year. He fills the position left vacant by the sudden death of Captain Don English earlier this year.
