Columbus Hires New Chief Financial Officer

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A New York native who has extensive experience as a financial manager for casinos and other businesses is Columbus’ new chief financial officer.

Milton Rawle Jr. will start work Monday at a salary of $71,000 a year. The City Council unanimously hired him tonight to fill the spot left vacant when Mike Bernsen went to work for Columbus Light and Water in December.

Rawle most recently was finance director for the Grand Station Casino in Vicksburg. He was one of three original finalists from an original group of more than 60 applicants. Ashante Butler, a Columbus resident who also is the financial director for Noxubee County, also was among the three.

One withdrew and the selection committee, which included two council members, unanimously recommended Rawle following interviews.
