Columbus Man Accused of Leading Deputies on Wild Car Chase

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- According to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department, 26-year-old Nathan Coleman was allegedly doing donuts in his vehicle in a field off Tabernacle Road. Authorities say upon arrival a John Deere Tractor was found sitting on the side of the field still running and appeared to be vandalized and set on fire.The truck allegedly driven by Coleman than took off down the road and avoiding pulling over when authorities tried to stop the truck. The vehicle then sped off entering Alabama, traveling down several roads and occasionally turning it’s lights off to elude authorities. A spike strip was then deployed at County Road 75 and Highway 96 in an effort to stop the vehicle. Authorities say Coleman tried to escape the road and in the process tried to ram two Lowndes County Deputies. The vehicle was finally stopped and authorities were able to apprehend the driver. Coleman is charged with Arson, Felony Eluding, Aggravated Assault on A Law Enforcement Officer and Felony Malicious Mischief. His bond has not been set yet.
