Columbus Police to Charge Suspect in Friday Shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus police plan to file charges in a shooting that sent a person to the hospital Friday afternoon.

Capt. Brent Swan tells WCBI they have a man in custody, who they plan to formally charge, Monday.

Investigators are not releasing the man’s name at this time.

Friday’s shooting happened shortly before 5 p.m. on 15th Avenue South, near Friendship Cemetery.

Police still aren’t identifying the victim, who was taken to a local hospital.

Swan says the investigation is ongoing, and they’re looking to make more arrests.
