COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Columbus school board has gained a new member.

On Monday night, Greg Lewis was sworn in at the beginning of the board’s March meeting.

The board also gave an update on the superintendent search, and the environmental assessments of the Magnolia Bowl and Lee Middle School.

Board president Jason Spears says representatives from potential companies they can use for the superintendent search will have representatives at the board’s April 14th meeting.

Kevin Stafford – who’s with a local engineering firm – told the school board they’ll move forward with Phase II for the Magnolia Bowl, which will cost about $17,000 through a grant.

Stafford said Phase II at Lee Middle is being put on hold. They’re waiting to see how far the grant money goes.

A local tennis group also got approval from the board to use the Columbus High School tennis courts again, and will give free lessons to residents.

The board will meet again in April.
