COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Heavy rains soaked Columbus off and on Friday (7-5) afternoon.

All that water made for some hazardous driving conditions.

Parts of College Street and 15th Avenue South were totally submerged, and so was the intersection of Main Street and 10th Street South.

New Hope Park became almost impossible to navigate.

In places, the water is up to 3 feet deep.

Barriers have been placed in front of some of the most hazardous areas.

It’s never a good idea to drive around those, but some motorists do it anyway.

Some make it, others stall out and do expensive damage to their cars.
