Lowndes County, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County residents learned more about what needs to be done to fix an ongoing sewer problem.

A public meeting was held Thursday night at the National Guard Armory on Highway 69 to discuss the Sanitary Water, Sewer Project on Pecan and Kimberly Lanes.

In order to receive a Community Development Block Grant, the plan would have to benefit at least 51% of low to moderate income people.

The$600,000 grant would also have to improve a blighted area where there is an immediate threat to the public’s health.

No word when the county will know if the funds have been awarded.
