Video: Consolidation Commission Meets

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-  The commission charged with overseeing the consolidation of the Starkville and Oktibbeha County School Districts had its first official business meeting Thursday. The seven-member group met with state officials and talked about goals and their plan of action over the next year.

The merger of the two districts will not happen until July of 2015.

Legislative Services director Pete Smith says, “We will work out the kinks and bugs over the next year or so, so that we can provide a smooth transition for the students for Oktibbeha County and Starkville.”

Lawmakers also voted to consolidate the Clay County and West Point School Districts.
