Controversial Facebook Post: Leaked

COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) A controversial Facebook comment that led to the resignation of one Columbus firefighter and disciplinary action against two others, and an officer has been leaked.

12-year department veteran Brad Alexander stepped down last Tuesday after word of his Facebook post filtered through the community.

According to city officials, this graphic post stemmed from a fire department call concerning a two year old struck by a car.

” People never cease to amaze me. Mama yelling oh my baybee my baybee…Hey you stupid a**, where was babyees mama at while your 2 year old was getting hit by a truck. Mama needs to have her guts cut so there won’t be anymore babies. Freeloading ignorant woman.”

Shortly after Alexander resigned, he did post this apology to Facebook.

“Hello all, I made a very poor decision on making a comment here the other day. Please let me apologize for my disrespect and stupidity. To all my co-workers who this reflected on, I am deeply sorry.”

Firefighters Derek Estes and Eric Minga, as well as Officer Lance Luckey were all suspended for 30 calendar days.

Luckey is appealing his suspension.

The two firemen are not appealing and have sent apology letters to the city.

The three received the punishment after “liking” the original Facebook post.
