Corinth Looks To Clear Industrial Site

CORINTH, Miss. (AP) – The city of Corinth is seeking bids for demolition of the former Wurlitzer manufacturing building and clearing of the site.

Community Planning and Development Director Dave Huwe has told city officials that bids will be opened April 16.

Officials believe removing the dilapidated industrial building will improve the marketability of the site.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1geJqa2 ) the winning bidder of the demolition contract also must adhere to the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan developed for the site.

Last summer, EnviroRem of Memphis was hired to remove all asbestos-containing materials as the next step in preparing the site.

The city hopes to see savings on the project through recycling of brick and concrete blocks, concrete pads and slabs, asphalt and any other recyclable materials.
