Corinth School Bus Crash, Parent DUI

CORINTH, Miss., (WCBI)– A Corinth High School parent has been charged with DUI and child endangerment after causing a collision with a school bus Wednesday morning.

Brett Butler, 43, of Corinth, was dropping his child off around 8 a.m. at CHS when he turned in front of a bus heading north on Harper Road.

With quick reaction, the bus driver took action and hit the passenger side quarter panel avoiding hitting the car head-on. There were no injuries reported.

Captain Landon Tucker of the Corinth Police Department told the Daily Corinthian, the accident could have been much worse if the bus driver wouldn’t have taken such quick actions.

Butler’s blood level was .24 – three times over the legal limit.

Only one person was in Butler’s vehicle and there were two children on the school bus.
