Coroner: Columbus Motel Death Likely Drug-Related

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Lowndes County investigators have ruled a man’s death to be drug-related, after finding his body in a Columbus motel Tuesday afternoon.

Coroner Greg Merchant tells WCBI he found no trauma to 27-year old Lloyd Bridges’ body.

Columbus police were called to the Traveler’s Deluxe Motel Tuesday afternoon, after motel staff members asked for a welfare check.

An officer found Bridges dead in his room.

Merchant says authorities also found non-prescription drugs in the room, which will have to be tested.

He is also waiting on a toxicology report.
