TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A father and daughter duo is continuing a tradition by attending a special ball for an 11th straight year.

At just four months old, Macy Blanton was the youngest to attend the Gum Tree Father Daughter Ball.

Now, 10 years later, it is a night she and her father still look forward to each year.

“After the first year, I wouldn’t miss it for anything,” Len Blanton said.

The ball is a special evening for daddies and daughters to spend some quality time together, all while benefiting Lebonheur Children’s Hospital.

“And I kind of look forward to this as the one true date a year that I get with my daughter that it’s strictly us, and all the other dad’s and daughters and obviously it’s a good cause, its raising money for Lebonheur, which they do tremendous work for kids but its a good time for father’s and daughters to spend some time together,” he said.

“It’s fun to stay with my Dad and watch his crazy dance moves and I sometimes play with my friends here that they come with their dad’s,” Macy said.

Throughout the duo’s past years at the ball, Macy says she still looks forward to one special part of the evening.

“I always like doing the cards where you can put stickers and hearts and all that fun stuff on there. And we get to write sweet messages to the people that we don’t want to be sick and stuff and we want to help them as much as we can,” she said.

At the end of the night, Macy’s father says this special date is just another way to be a role model for his young daughter.

“A boy that you’re dating should treat you politely, treat you well and treat you with respect. Let you go dance with your friends,” he said.
