STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) -Sudduth Elementary’s Watch DOGS which stands for Dads of Great Students kicked off Thursday evening.

Dozens of fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, cousins and mentors were welcomed to volunteer in the school and be a positive male role model for all children. Duties involve devoting a few hours a month to visiting classrooms, helping out in the cafeteria, reading books and more. Here’s what some fathers had to say.

“I just want to participate everyday in activities, support my son, teach him that education is important and it’s something he should enjoy,” said father Ben Shurden.

“This is really important that way I know that my daughter here would be protected and I’ll know what’s going on here at the school,” added father William Shields.
Men in the program don’t have to be a parent of a Sudduth student to participate.
