CHICKASAW CO., Miss. (WCBI) – A teenager camped out in a Chickasaw County camp house is dead and two other teens are seriously injured in a weekend blaze.

The deadly fire of undetermined origin early Saturday morning at the camp house is the focus of an investigation by the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department.

“Had a 16 year old, was brought to Trace Regional Hospital and he was flown to Jackson with 3rd degree burns. And he died in route,” said Andy Harmond,” Chickasaw County Coroner.

East Webster High teen Mark Bubba Raines is the victim. His 14 year old brother Logan and their 16 year old friend Trent Hauffman were seriously injured in that same fire. School officials are quietly dealing with the loss and declined to comment on the tragedy. Meanwhile family members are left to mourn.

“And I have not talked to his mother and daddy yet, but I do got his uncle at my house,” said Donald Wayne Robinson.

A text message by phone from Texas alerted some of the local relatives about the fire.

“He is just like a step son to me he was. He was at my house every evening and on the weekend. He called me step daddy and he called my wife mother. Every time, hug our necks,” said Robinson.

The victim’s brother remains at a Jackson Hospital and Trent Hauffman is at an Augusta Georgia burn center.

Investigators are waiting for results of an autopsy being performed in Jackson.
