Death in Monroe Co. Jail Under Investigation

MONROE CO., Miss. – (PRESS RELEASE)The Monroe County Coroner’s Office and MBI (Mississippi Bureau of Investigation) are investigating the death of an inmate in the Monroe County Jail. Jailors were called to a cell around 6:40am Monday morning for an inmate having trouble breathing. Ambulance was dispatched and the person was taken nearby Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen where he was DOA.

I will be taking the body to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Jackson Tuesday morning for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Name of the deceased: Willie Brandon, age 32 of Tumblin Road (Egypt Community in Monroe County).

Mr. Brandon had been in the Monroe County Jail since 6-6-13 for failure to pay fines on misdemeanor charges.
