Video: Update: Death Investigation Underway in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant has identified the man found in a Columbus hotel room on Tuesday afternoon.

Timothy Lloyd Bridges, 27, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama was found inside a room at the Traveler’s Deluxe Motel on what is commonly known as “The Island.”

Merchant says Bridges was in the area working.

The cause of death remains under investigation.

(PRESS RELEASE) On 12-09-2014 at approximately 12:01pm, Columbus Police Officers responded to the Traveler’s Deluxe Motel located at 1001 Island Road in reference to a welfare concern.

Upon arrival, entry was gained by the motel staff into one of the rooms, where a deceased male was found.

Cause of death will be established through autopsy and the case is currently under investigation.
